I have received numerous correspondence from people suffering in their plight and ordeals as Asylum Seekers on our shores and elsewhere we have cast them to.
Horrific descriptions of various inhumanity and unwarranted hardships are described.
From within the tumult of congested hardships and the scurry of hopelessness there are the spiral into situational trauma, multiple traumas, continuing stress disorders, clinical breakdown, episodic psychoses, various depressions, displaced anger, self destruction, self harms, suicide attempts, catatonia, paranoia, complete breakdown.
People are coming to the Australian Immigration detention system, now the world’s harshest and most brutal, and those who leave it, leave in a worse condition than when they went in.
The following is correspondence from a lady who lost her unborn:
“Hello.when I arrived on Christmass Island I was prognant, and we arrived on 2nd of september and on the 4th of september my pain started.I reported to IHMS and after some examinitaions, they told me that there was nothing wrong with me.and the doctor refused to visit me and the nurses visited me.They didn’t belive me and my pain.I told them that I need some rest but they said that it was better for me to walk around the camp and take some sports and exersises, and there is no need to rest.two days after I went to medical and told them again about my problem and as before, the same result.doctor told me that i’m 12 or 13 weeks prognant and these feelings are quite normal,I asked them to transfer me to the hospital.I thought maybe I needed sonography to see how is my fetus, but they refused and told me there is no sonography equipments on an island, they asked me to go and rest.two nights later I felt too much pain in my womb that I could hardly walk.and the nurse told me that she took the responsibility of my fetus and me.my husband helped me and I was suffering.one of the SERCO officers came and she really cared about my situation and she called hospital.but unfortunately it was too late and after sonography I’ve lost my fetus.I accused the IHMS in the Aqua camp and I want my baby from them.If they cared I could have my children.I hoped in Australia they care about babies but they didn’t care about my baby, and as a mother,I do really beg to consider my complaint.they send the sick people here to city camps for their treatment and after that they return them.I’ve seen lots of prognant ladies who went to darwin but after they deliver they baby, they send them back to christmass Island, but I don’t know why they didn’t take my situation serious.I’m really depressed and all the time i’m crying but no one cares and there is no where that could respond me.who is responsible for my baby’s death?I carried my baby hardly till Christmass Island, but they didn’t care.where can I mention my complaint?we scaped from our country to grow our baby up in Australia, because our lives was at risk in my country. please help me.I think maybe I can recieved a good and hopeful news from you to decrease my depression. I’ll be thankful if you consider my complaint. Thank you so much.”
