Debbie Kilroy OAM MLB, BSocWk, GDFMenH, GDLPrac and former prisoner, is the CEO of Sisters Inside Inc., an independent community organisation which advocates for the human rights of women who have been criminalised. Debbie is a passionate activist for the implementation and monitoring of human rights within women’s prisons and advocates strongly against discriminatory and oppressive practices.

Debbie has participated in several international human rights forums, including the expert meeting in developing the UN Rules for the Treatment of Women Prisoners and Non-Custodial Measures for Women Offenders (Bangkok Rules) and the Commission on the Status of Women Sessions annually.

She is the first women in Queensland to be admitted to practice law after being convicted of a serious criminal offence. Debbie’s area of expertise is in criminal defence law.
